The scalp needle mesotherapy is used to treat baldness. This method involves introducing appropriately selected nutrients into the patient’s skin using special needle (cannula). The treatment stimulates the scalp and hair roots to regenerate. It reduces excessive hair loss and stimulates new growth.

What is scalp needle mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a treatment method of various ailments. The course of the procedure involves deep injection of appropriately selected doses of medicinal substances into disease areas. This treatment is used in the alopecia treatment- it allows the patient to improve his/her the quality of hair, inhibit hair loss and stimulate new hair to grow (provided that the skin has active hair follicles in the anagen phase).

Scalp needle mesotherapy involves making numerous punctures where medicines and nutritional substances are injected. The aim of those substances (mainly anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamins and nutrients) is to stimulate hair growth and inhibit hair loss. The set of medicines is always selected individually to meet all the needs of the patient. During procedure a needle and a syringe are used. Micro-traumas are form on the scalp that stimulate the skin to regenerate and rebuild, improving blood circulation and stimulate the hair roots. Punctures are made in places where there are signs of alopecia. The whole procedure takes about 30 minutes.

Is scalp needle mesotherapy painful?

During mesotherapy, the patient experiences slight pain. For injection, a syringe with a thin needle (from 0.5 cm to 1.5 cm) or a medical pistol is used. Such punctures cause little discomfort, because it is impossible to apply completely anaesthetize of the scalp. However, the patients with a low pain threshold often make a decision to use local anaesthesia (spray or anaesthetic ointment) that works during and after the procedure.

Indications for surgery

Scalp needle mesotherapy is an effective method of treating alopecia. It is also used preventively for patients who suffer from excessive hair loss and who want to improve their condition, stimulate the scalp to regenerate and help rebuild the hair bulbs. The indications for the procedure are following:

  • EXCESSIVE HAIR LOSS, CAUSED BY LACK OF NUTRIENTS (UNSUITABLE DIET) OR LOW BLOOD CIRCULATION
  • HAIR LOSS DUE TO HORMONAL CHANGES
  • EXCESSIVE HAIR LOSS IN PREGNANCY AND DURING LACTATION
  • HAIR LOSS DUE TO PERMANENT STRESS
  • PATTERN HAIR LOSS
  • ALOPECIA AREATA
  • ALOPECIA DIFFUSA
Contraindications to scalp needle mesotherapy are following:
  • PREGNANCY AND LACTATION PERIOD
  • MENSTRUATION
  • DIABETES
  • TAKING ANTICOAGULANTS
  • ALLERGY
  • INFECTIONS AND SKIN INFLAMMATION
  • SORE
  • CANCERS
  • HIGH RISK OF HAVING SCARS
  • BACTERIAL AND VIRUS INFECTIONS
Side effects of the procedure

Scalp needle mesotherapy is completely safe. Immediately after the procedure, some marks on the skin in the form of a grid or spots (this depends on the used technique) can remain. They should disappear themselves within 6 to 72 hours (the time depends on taking drugs). Some people may suffer from slight redness and swelling of the skin or bruising. These afflictions should stop within a few days.

Post-treatment recommendations

After the mesotherapy procedure the patient can return to his/her daily activities. It is recommended by doctors to use scalp care products. Solarium and sauna are not allowed. Restriction of stimulant substances is also recommended.

The results of the procedure

Scalp needle mesotherapy allows you to inhibit the process of hair loss, gradually thicken it and stimulate new hair bulbs. The result is simple: hair regrowth at bald spots. In addition, the treatment makes the hair stronger, nourishes it and reduces sebum (injected medicines, vitamins and nutrients make for regeneration and reconstruction of the scalp).

It is estimated that the effectiveness of mesotherapy in the baldness treatment reaches even 90-92%. The method is most effective in the treatment of excessive hair loss caused by hormonal changes and weakening of the hair bulbs. The best effects can be achieved with a series of treatments. In the majority of cases, the patient visits the clinic from 4 to 7 times (every week or every two weeks). Every few months, the patient can also have an addition procedure.
